We have a true vintage workhorse on the bench today. The Olds Ambassador is one of the most famous and bombproof student/step-up trumpets ever built, and this Fullerton-era specimen carrying serial number 721613 has clearly lived a full, honest musical life.
If you appreciate a horn with deep character and a gorgeous vintage patina, this one has plenty of it. It’s been well-cared for mechanically over the decades, though it hasn't seen a chemical bath in quite a while, giving the body a dark, aged lacquer look. Interestingly, it features newer replacement slides whose bright brass contrast sharply with the heavier patina on the bell section and body. Topped off with fresh valve caps, it’s an eclectic, ready-to-play player with zero red rot, though it does feature some solid oxidation spots that give it an aggressively rustic look while remaining entirely cosmetic in nature.
