Ed Fleming is currently owner of Fleming Musical Instruments & Repair in Houston Texas. In 1977, he received his Bachelor of Music degree from Eastern Illinois University. As a saxophone major, he split his playing time between the classical and jazz styles.
After teaching music and band at the high school level, Ed then discovered that repairing instruments was his professional calling. He graduated from Allied School of Instrument Repair in Wisconsin and has been repairing woodwinds and brass for top professionals, students and schools here in Texas since 1980.
Ed still plays sax in various groups in the Houston area. Along the way, Ed has become an avid bicyclist, where he rides and races Ultra Marathon distances. He also has three musically talented adult children, Lindsey, Jessica and Connor.
Steven Rodriguez is currently manager of Fleming Musical Instruments & Repair. Since birth, Steven was immersed in the musical world. Growing up playing the piano and singing, it was evident Steven would spend his life in the music industry.
In 2008, Steven graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and immediately began his apprenticeship at Fleming Musical Instruments & Repair under Ed Fleming.
Steven excelled in his apprenticeship and later accepted the position of shop manager in 2012. Since then, he has bolstered a strong customer base by providing a friendly, no-pressure environment for his customers. Stevens manages a full team of expert technicians with nearly 100 years of combined experience, and handles the day-to-day workings of Fleming Instruments & Repair.
Steven spends his free time playing tuba in the Houston Civic Symphony, riding his bike in group rides, golfing, and raising his son, Leo.
Chris Campbell is the current Head Technician at Fleming Instruments and Repair. Chris started working at Fleming Instruments part-time during the summer of 2011. After showing a natural gift and tenacity for the work, he began his apprenticeship under Ed and Steven. He helps manages a full workload of professional woodwind and brass repairs from our partner schools and is in high demand with professional instrumentalists from all over Houston.
Chris is a huge animal lover and spends his time outside of work volunteering at local shelters, sculpting, reading comics, and taking care of his pets.
Wes is the the first addition to our team on the 'sales side' and handles a variety of tasks ranging from customer relations to social marketing. Wes began his love of music in grade school and went on to graduate from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors of Music Education playing clarinet and saxophone.
After college, Wes began his career teaching at a successful band program in Forney TX, located in the greater Dallas Metroplex. After many successful years of band directing, and a recent move to Tomball, Wes joined the team here at Fleming's to assist with the demands of a growing, independent business. He spends his days in the shop interacting with customers online and in-person, assisting in handling orders and shipments, posting and administrating our social media accounts, and helping manage our ever-growing inventory and consignment instruments.
Outside of work Wes loves riding his Harley-Davidson, teaching music lessons, camping, and spending lots of quality time with his wife Jessica and their two kids, Owen and Addie.
