Keilwerth SX90R Alto Saxophone - Brushed Nickel Silver Finish
For sale is a professional Keilwerth SX90R Alto Saxophone, serial number 116978 (Made in Germany, c. 2000-2001). This instrument features a striking Brushed Nickel Silver finish with contrasting Brass Keys, a rare and visually distinctive combination often associated with Keilwerth's special production runs from this era. It is a powerful "player's horn" that delivers the massive, modern sound Keilwerth is famous for.
This is the ultimate horn for the jazz soloist, R&B player, or contemporary musician who needs a sound that can cut through a loud band. If you find standard saxophones to be too "polite" or "focused," the wide-bore sound of the Keilwerth SX90R is the answer.
The Keilwerth Difference: "The Big Sound"
The SX90R (R = Rolled Tone Holes) is designed to offer the "American" fat sound of vintage horns (like Conns) with modern German engineering.
- Soldered Tone Hole Rings: Unlike vintage horns where the metal was rolled over, Keilwerth solders separate metal rings onto the tone holes. This increases the surface area for the pad, providing a tighter seal, longer pad life, and a darker, more resonant tone.
- Adjustable Ergonomics: Keilwerth is unique for its adjustable palm keys, allowing players of all hand sizes to customize the height of the high D, Eb, and F keys for perfect comfort. It also features an adjustable metal thumb rest.
- Condition Note: This instrument is in excellent structural shape. However, like many Keilwerths from this specific era, it shows evidence of "acid bleed" (lacquer bleed) around the bell-to-body connector and spots on the bow. This is a common, purely cosmetic characteristic of Keilwerth's manufacturing process in the early 2000s and does not affect the sound or longevity of the metal.
