Bonade Inverted Series Ligatures for Clarinet & Saxophone
The legendary educator-approved standard for free reed vibration, projection, and dynamic control.
Designed by the influential French-American clarinetist and pedagogue Daniel Bonade, the Bonade Inverted Ligature is universally recognized as the essential step-up ligature for advancing woodwind players. Unlike conventional ligatures that can clamp down across the entire heel and bind the sides of the reed, the Bonade inverted design places the tightening screws on top of the mouthpiece beak while utilizing two precision-engineered, parallel metal pressure ribs on the bottom plate.
These raised ribs secure the reed firmly along off-center contact points, allowing the side rails and vamp to vibrate with complete acoustic freedom. The result is immediate response, crisp articulation, and an estimated 20% to 30% increase in tonal resonance and dynamic range across all registers.
-
Design Concept: Inverted orientation (screws tighten over the beak; rib plate contacts the reed)
-
Pressure Mechanism: Dual raised metal contact ribs for minimal reed dampening and maximum vibration
-
Screw Mechanism: Classic two-screw reverse tightening system
