Pre-Owned Henri Selmer Paris Super Action 80 Series II Alto Saxophone - Lacquer (Non-Jubilee)
We have a really solid late-90s Selmer Series II alto in the shop. If you are looking for that classic Selmer sound and want a reliable professional horn that you don't have to baby, this is a great option.
This specific alto (serial number 561679) is a "non-Jubilee" model. For players who track the history of these horns, this means it was built before Selmer updated their engraving and lacquer process in 2010. A lot of players actually prefer these older Series IIs, finding that the slightly heavier build gives the horn a thicker, darker tonal core. It’s a great all-around alto that works just as well in a concert band as it does in a jazz combo.
Key Features
- The Series II Sound: Known for being incredibly versatile. It has a rich, complex sound with enough resistance to let you push the volume without the tone thinning out.
- Pre-Jubilee Build: Features the traditional Selmer Paris floral engraving and the classic lacquer formula used throughout the 80s and 90s.
- Comfortable Ergonomics: Standard, reliable Selmer keywork that sits naturally under the hands.
Condition & Shop Inspection
- Cosmetics: Player's Condition. This horn has been played and shows some standard cosmetic wear for its age. You will notice some typical acid bleed around the lacquer joints (very common on Selmers from this era) and some minor lacquer wear around the key touches. It’s purely cosmetic and doesn't affect the sound at all.
- Mechanics: Bench-Tested & Ready. Our in-house repair team has given this horn a full adjustment. The pads look great and have plenty of life left in them. It seals up nicely and plays smoothly from top to bottom.
- Accessories: Includes a hard case.
