Pre-Owned Selmer Paris Mark VI Professional Alto Saxophone - Original Lacquer
We have a true holy grail in the shop today. Widely revered as the king of the saxophone world, the Selmer Paris Mark VI is an absolute legend of acoustic engineering. Serial number 226675 places its production right around 1974, marking one of the final chapters of the historic Mark VI run before Selmer transitioned to the Mark VII.
This specific horn carries an incredible story. It comes to us as a true closet queen, having sat untouched and carefully preserved since the passing of its original some years ago. Kept in phenomenally well-preserved condition, it features its matching original neck and even includes its rare, original Selmer tri-case complete with the matching outer case. It is slated to receive a full professional adjustment in our shop to bring its mechanics back to peak performance, and it is finally ready to play and sing again after decades of quiet rest. We have chosen to put it up prior to any completed work unless someone wanted us to hold off on the repair. It does not need much, only a minor adjustment to some keys and some replacement felts.
Why the Mark VI is Legendary Produced from 1954 to 1974, the Mark VI set a standard for professional saxophones that players and collectors have chased for over half a century. It is celebrated worldwide for its uniquely focused, flexible tonal core, lightning-fast ergonomic key layout, and an effortless intonation scale that allows players to color their sound with absolute freedom. Finding a late-era Mark VI in this condition with its matching case package is an increasingly rare discovery.
