We have a seriously cool, historically significant find on the bench today. This is a vintage Henri Selmer Paris 4-valve piccolo trumpet finished in bright silver plate. Carrying the iconic laurel wreath maker's mark and serial number 67509, this horn dates back to the late 1970s (roughly 1977).
If you know the history of the modern piccolo trumpet, you know that Selmer Paris essentially wrote the book on it. Back in 1967, they collaborated directly with the legendary Maurice André to develop the modern 4-valve piccolo trumpet, creating an instrument that laid the groundwork for decades of baroque transcriptions and elite symphonic playing.
This specific horn features that classic 4-valve configuration and includes the necessary extra leadpipe extension and slide parts to change the pitch between Bb and A, an absolute necessity for navigating standard orchestral and solo literature.
