We have a really special and hard-to-find horn in the shop right now. This is a pre-owned Schilke Eb cornet, and it is an absolute gem for anyone who plays in a British-style brass band or needs a lyrical high-voice instrument for solo work.
A lot of Eb instruments can have a tendency to sound a bit shrill or mimic a piccolo trumpet, but this one is built with a traditional shepherd's crook. That specific wrap mellows out the harsh upper overtones and gives this cornet a beautifully warm, singing, and velvety tone, even in the extreme upper register. It takes the typical edge off the Eb and makes it incredibly fun to play.
