We’ve got a really fantastic large bore tenor in the shop today. This is the S.E. Shires TBQ Alessi Artist Model from their Q Series line.
Designed in collaboration with the legendary Joseph Alessi, this trombone was built to provide players with a premium, professional instrument that balances warmth, efficiency, and resonance. If you are looking for a versatile, high-end trombone that can handle both heavy orchestral work and demanding solo repertoire, this is a very reliable choice.
This specific horn (serial number Q4493) is in great shape and plays exactly like a proper Shires should.
Key Features

The QAlessi Bell: Features an 8.5-inch, two-piece, lightweight yellow brass bell with an unsoldered bead and a special annealing treatment. It allows the horn to project easily while maintaining a very broad and warm core sound.

Alessi Rotary Valve: Equipped with the specialized Alessi Q Series rotary F-attachment. Paired with a gold brass F-attachment slide, it creates a lot of depth and density in the sound without sacrificing the clarity of a traditional rotor.

The Slide: Features a .547" large bore standard-weight gold brass handslide with a wide yellow brass crook. This alloy combination gives you a lot of flexibility in your tone color.

Gold Brass Tuning Slide: The drawn gold brass tuning slide adds a really nice touch of complexity and warmth to the overall blow of the instrument.
