The Martin Committee Deluxe cornet is a trumpet that was designed by a committee and has a streamlined profile, minimal bracing, side-mounted water keys, and an intimate sound.

The famous Martin Committee gets its name from the round table of reputable trumpet makers.
This Committee was made up of:

  • Renold Schilke (Renold claimed that the horn was designed by a committee of one, himself.)
  • Vincent Bach
  • Elden Benge
  • Foster Reynolds
  • And a presumed local player, most likely from the Chicago Symphony

The Committee tumpets went on to be played by the likes of Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, and Al Hirt.

John Heinrich Martin was said to be born on Febuary 24, 1835 in Dredsen Germany. He went on to apprentice and learn how to make instruments in his time in Germany. Martin emigrated to the United States in 1865 and where he ended up in Chicago where he founded "The Martin Company."
