Here is a 1955 Mount Vernon Bach Stradiviarius Trumpet with a 43 bell.
These trumpets were made in the Mt Vernon shop in New York before Bach was purchased by Selmer in 1965. These Mt. Vernon horns (1953-63) are highly sought after and collectible instruments that are prized for being fully hand-assembled instruments. Many players say this period of Bach quality and design is un-matched in todays market. The design of the trumpet changed during these years to include the full wrap height still built today, to feature a flat-faced tuning slide, and modified to require the tuning slide be pulled an inch rather than the customary 1/2 inch to be in tune. This last modification, by some workings of the physics, is said to "loosen the centering" and "open the blow".
This trumpet is in fantastic shape for its age. The valves and tuning slide move effortlessly.
There is some slight lacquer wear throughout the horn, as well as a (very well done) patch on the trumpet bow next to the valve block.
This horn produces a warm and rich sound that will fit with any musicians style.
Here is your opportunity to own a vintage bach trumpet! The instrument comes as is with NO case.
