This is a Buescher Academy alto saxophone. This vintage student model horn comes with only 14 keys and weighs around 3 pounds. Many referred this as a "Home Model" saxophone. It was thought that by making the keywork simpler the saxophone would appeal to students and amateurs. The saxophone is designed to only play in the key of C (concert Eb). It has no palm keys, side keys, or auxillary keys of any kind.
This saxophone is a pristine example of the early innovation of the saxophone line of instruments. It might have been a flop, but is still a great historic and storied piece.
