This is a vary rare Martin Troubadour Handcraft trumpet similar to the one Louis Armstrong played. The 104xxx serial number indicates that this trumpet was built in the 1930's yet it is in beautiful shape, it has a bright silver body with gold lacquer accents and has beautiful hand engraved art on the bell. The valves are super smooth and the trumpet recently underwent a full chem clean and valve job. Though this trumpet plays nice, the best part about this horn is the Martin legacy. Through the Martin Committee, Imperial and other models, Martin trumpets became one of the most highly recognized brands with people like Chet Baker, Blue Mitchell, Clifford Brown, and many more playing their horns.

Brasshistory.net says this about the Troubador,

"Music Trade Review reported in 1931 that the new Troubadour trumpet was "highlypraised by top notch players." They also said that "Louis Armstrong ... has just purchaseda new gold Martin Troubadour and is tremendously pleased with it." At the time they werealso making Troubadour model saxophones, trombones and cornets. Armstrong can be seenplaying his trumpet in the 1932 short movie "A Rhapsody in Black & Blue".
